If you’re deliberating whether to personalise your current home or buy a new one, you might want to take a look at these Refresh Renovations projects. All three home renovations are major examples of how a new design and build can transform a house into an unrecognisable new space.

Gold Award

Jeff Clark for “A heritage home’s backyard transformation”

This 120-year-old heritage house renovation focused on blending the old with the new. This meant maintaining the classic, cottage-style facade of the property while modernising the small backyard entertaining area. A carefully considered landscape design paired with floor-to-ceiling windows has made the rear of the house feel much more spacious and stylistically consistent. Inside; the home has new flooring, an updated kitchen, a modernised bathroom and sophisticated master bedroom design.

Silver Award

Leigh McDonald for a “Kitchen renovation & new butler’s pantry in Melbourne”

It looks spacious now but that wasn’t always the case for this beautiful Melbourne kitchen. An innovative new kitchen design paved the way for a butler’s pantry - a long-time dream for the homeowners - and a luxurious finish. The layout, materials and stylish white and black colour palette with gold accents make this kitchen renovation a standout.

Bronze Award

Wayne Gordon for a “1940s beach house renovation in Waitarere Beach”

This New Zealand beach house transformation blends the practicality of modern design with the relaxed feel of coastal living. Originally dark and outdated, the building renovation has resulted in a bright and spacious feel. Light colour palettes, enhanced natural light and recessed lighting have all contributed to the low-maintenance feel of this practical old house.
