When Peter, the homeowner, approached Refresh Renovations to help with his unique renovation, local Renovation Specialist Paul Cree knew that this would be an exciting and challenging undertaking.
As an architect and designer himself, Peter had a particular vision in mind for his home. He was able to provide Paul with all of the architectural drawings to work from, demonstrating exactly what he was looking for with this project.
Because he is often situated overseas, Refresh Renovations was a fantastic option for Peter, as the entire process was to be managed from start to finish. Paul briefed his renovation team and scheduled all construction activity, leaving Peter confident that his dream renovation would be handled professionally whilst he was not there to oversee it.

A Unique Outdoor Space

Peter had created a one-of-a-kind vision for how he wanted the kitchen, living, and outdoor spaces to look. This project was customised from top to bottom, focusing on using warm wood and decadent marble throughout the interior design.
Peter’s architectural drawings also included the installation of eye-catching orange panels for the feature walls in the garden. The addition of a statement sculpture in the form of a bronze horse helped create a contemporary outdoor space that would be sure to pique the interest of any guests.

A Classic Yet Modern Interior

No expense was spared to ensure this vision came to life. Due to sourcing such unique custom materials, the budget and scope needed to be revised throughout the process. Knowing that his custom specifications were important in fulfilling his concept, Peter took this in his stride and worked with Paul to ensure that the materials were exactly what he was after.
The bathrooms were upgraded with a modern twist of elegant marble and classic warm-toned wood for the interior. The kitchen followed this combination with traditional wooden cabinetry and opulent bar stools with custom upholstery.
The external windows and doors were also replaced to keep within the modern yet classic theme, complete with golden accents and fixtures.
Unique colour schemes were incorporated into the space, with warm hues of yellow and orange offset with accents of pistachio green to make for a one-of-a-kind home.

COVID-19 Lockdown Interruptions

This project was scheduled during a time of frequent lockdowns throughout Melbourne, causing significant restrictions and delays to the schedule.
There were also a number of major structural and drainage issues that Paul and his renovation team found, further increasing the construction timelines.
Although this project took 12 months to complete, Paul was on top of the process every step of the way, liaising with the construction team to ensure that work was carried out when possible in a safe manner.
With Paul managing this project, Peter could trust that any obstructions or issues would be resolved to finish the project to the highest standard possible, despite the unforeseen circumstances.

The Vision Complete

Every part of Peter’s home was fully customised and renovated, including the back garden, which transformed into a contemporary and awe-inspiring space.
Despite the challenges, Paul managed the budget and construction team to ensure there was as little disruption as possible and that the final product was exactly as Peter had dreamed it.
