Marble tiling, organic shapes, and improved functionality bring these bathrooms to life for effortless luxury.
Beginning the Journey
Denise is the owner of this beautiful Parnell apartment nestled in the heart of Auckland. Considering selling in the future, she wanted to upgrade her home’s dated bathrooms with a fresh and contemporary design that would ultimately boost the property’s value.
Concept and Costing
The bathrooms’ interiors were dated and dark – the opposite of what Denise wanted to achieve with the renovation. She envisioned upgrading with a contemporary design and brand new fixtures to make each bathroom much more inviting.
With this concept, John and Maree estimated the bathroom renovation would cost $86,000 to complete the project. However, Denise later chose to include a full interior repaint, increase the amount of tiling in the bathrooms, and install a new timber balustrade along the stairs. These home improvements wouldn’t just freshen up the interiors but also make the home compliant with the current building code. In total, these variations brought the cost to $98,000.
Construction ran across six and a half months from start to finish. This timeline included renovating the three bathrooms, interior repainting, and the balustrade installation.
Although the timeline was extended slightly further than initially planned due to external supply delays and adding complete interior painting to the scope, John and Maree managed to smoothly orchestrate the entire project. Denise was updated frequently with all essential information throughout the process, allowing her to stay in the loop without worrying about the finer details.
Built for Luxury
Laden with white marble tiling, the main bathroom and ensuite have been completely freshened up, yet they carry an air of decadence. Featuring large walk-in showers, wall-hung mirrored cabinets, and handless vanities, the bathrooms have many new features to be enjoyed for years to come.
The organic shapes found in the circular basins and freestanding bath introduce an element of softness that keeps the interiors from feeling too clinical with their all-white design. Altogether, the design choices have created soothing atmospheres worthy of retreating to after a long day.
As for the powder room, this space has been kept simple. No marble tiling was used. Instead, the walls have been brightened up with lighter paint, and the fixtures have been replaced with modern upgrades to match the larger bathrooms. And to make a statement, a large circular mirror takes centre stage and is balanced beautifully with the rounded basin below.
To maximise the functionality of the bathrooms, John and Maree provided Denise with a vast array of storage options. Needing plentiful storage for bathroom amenities, she chose vanities with deep drawers that could span the length of the wall-hung mirrored cabinets. These cabinets provide additional storage while hidden away – an excellent option for maximising usage of the space.
The Final Result
The renovation process was smooth sailing for Denise. Renovation Partners John and Maree kept her updated at every step of the way, exhibiting a steadfast dedication to customer service.
Looking at the results, she’s greatly satisfied that the renovation has successfully boosted her property’s value and made it compliant with building code, all the while establishing beautiful bathrooms with a sophisticated style and improved functionality.
