Rob McEwan is Renovation Consultant of M & M Renovations Ltd, a franchisee of Renovation Franchise Ltd, doing business in Rodney.

It is little wonder that Rob McEwan, Refresh Renovations Rodney branch owner, has been kept very busy since joining in mid-2017. His area covers all of Rodney and Kaipara; from the Muriwai coast up to Dargaville, across to Mangawhai and down to his home base of Whangaparaoa. His area is within both the Kaipara District and Auckland Council regions, meaning that Rob often liaises with both.
When it comes to project management, Rob brings a unique mix of skills to the table. Rob has a diverse background from dairy farming in Palmerston North, a Bachelor of Arts from Massey University, Policing in Auckland, Finance in London and then back to Auckland as Senior Management within the Wellness Industry. His family has always been involved in the construction and quantity surveying industry and it was a natural fit that he would eventually return to his roots and get involved with Refresh!
The skills and experience learned over these years has developed his passion for bringing together a vision, taking the time to listen and go on an individual journey with his clients to create a Personal design and build solution that is as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
Effective communication is one of Rob’s greatest strengths and he sees this as a central theme to achieving positive outcomes and outputs. This belief that communication serves as a foundation for his relationships with his clients and suppliers is vital for success. The ups and occasional downs are all able to be worked on together in partnership. As a renovation specialist, Rob is available and in regular contact to listen, explain, make suggestions, take orders, give orders, listen, listen and listen again!
“Trying to coordinate everything yourself can be a tricky dance", explains Rob. "Many locals are choosing to use their equity to upgrade or extend; and in some cases, they’ve decided to turn their holiday home into their permanent home. Our experience allows us to streamline all the different elements, and get the renovation completed with minimal disruption.”
His experiences have taught him to surround himself with exceptional people who have the same values and goals and the skills required to get the job done to his high level of satisfaction.
Rob is also passionate about promoting positive community and economic growth in our community.  Married and with an energetic son living in Arkles Bay, Whangaparaoa, Rob believes in “supporting local” where possible and is involved in the local community, actively a member in the Hibiscus Coast Waterpolo Club managing a few teams and previously as a volunteer within the Hibiscus Coast Football Club, where his son started playing when he was 5 and his still there today ready to trial for yet another season. Rob is known by his “the usual” at the local coffee shop in Arkles and his other fav Food Truck parked by the Silverdale off-ramp (the hub to get to North or South from home) where his double shot “flat white” is prepared and waiting as soon as his Refresh Truck is seen parking in the lot! Rob alternates Wednesdays either Sailing or playing “Tag” with a group of mates at the local Raiders League Club. He is often spotted in Rodney and the North Shore ferrying his son and mates to various events – mainly sporting – or to the beach to surf or sail.
“It’s a fantastic community up here. It’s not so small that everybody knows everybody…but it probably is just a few degrees of separation!”

The 5-Step Renovation Process

Our design & build process

Refresh’s process supports a bespoke design and build: a renovation tailored to your lifestyle requirements and taste. Your local renovation consultant will manage every aspect for you - working to keep everything on track.

1

Briefing / Initial Consultation

The first thing your renovation consultant will want to know is what it is that you want to achieve through your home renovation.

2

Concept and Feasibility

With a clear understanding of your renovation goals, your consultant can arrange for an architectural concept to be drawn up.

3

Working Drawings and Costing

Next, working drawings will be developed. These will take into account the engineering, structural, design and aesthetic decisions you have made.

4

Build / Construction Stage

Finally, you get to witness your project transition from the page to your property! Every aspect of the build will be managed for you, allowing you to carry on with your everyday life.

5

Your Finished Renovation

The final stage is for your consultant to ensure that all Council and Code of Compliance documentation is completed. Congratulations – your renovation is complete!
