How much will it cost?

The final cost will largely be influenced by the kitchen models you select, your choice of materials and whether or not your kitchen layout will remain the same. Changing your kitchen layout may mean that new electrical points and plumbing will need to be installed, which will add to the time and cost of your project. The most affordable option is to keep your layout the same and to choose affordable materials such as laminate worktops and vinyl cabinetry, while only updating the appliances that really need it. If, however, you are ready and willing to go all out on your kitchen installation - set aside at least £17,500 for a new layout and remodel, more if you are interested in high quality, bespoke products.   

How long will the installation take?

If you are planning on changing the layout of your kitchen, allow at least 2 - 4 months for the installation (you may want to consider using an alternative kitchen during this time). For a complete kitchen remodel, set aside at least 1-2 months.

Do kitchen installations require planning permission?

If you plan on only switching out old kitchen models for new ones, you generally will not require planning permission. If you will be changing the layout of your kitchen, including the layout of your plumbing and electrics, or if construction work will be required, you will likely require planning permission and possibly building regulations approval. It’s important to note that significant changes to the interiors of heritage listed homes will usually require permission before any work commences. What should I consider before committing to a new kitchen installation?

If you are unsure of where to start in your kitchen renovation plans, consider who will be living in and around the kitchen. Are you a family with young children? If this is the case you will probably want to focus on safety features, storage solutions and choosing materials which are easy to clean. Alternatively, if your kitchen is primarily going to be used for entertaining, you might want to focus more on presentation and functionality.
