A stunning and stylish kitchen renovation in Bethlehem, Tauranga.

This Tauranga home may have been a modern build, but the kitchen already felt drab, dated, and dingy. A full renovation with custom features and a chic colour palette injected style and energy into the home, delighting the owners and elevating the entire living area.

In Need of a Makeover

This beautiful home in Bethlehem was clean and tidy but lacked the sophistication and style needed to really set it apart. The kitchen was dull and dreary due to a dated brown colour palette, and narrow spacing between the island and cupboards made the space feel closed in with inadequate room for small appliances. The room’s location, separated from the main lounge area, also made it isolating for anyone cooking. Owners Debbie and Rob craved a brighter, more inviting space as well as open plan living to really fall in love with their home again.

Expert Advice

Debbie and Rob contacted their local Refresh Renovation Consultant Sharon Giblett for expert kitchen renovation advice. They wanted someone they could trust to project manage their renovation from design through to delivery, as they knew they would not have time to manage multiple contractors themselves.
After meeting with Sharon to understand the Refresh process, Debbie and Rob were confident that Sharon understood their kitchen goals and could take care of all the details to provide complete end-to-end project management of the renovation. They were also impressed that Sharon had an established network of trusted professionals who could deliver excellent workmanship.
Debbie and Rob needed guidance around the design and colours, so Sharon worked with them until they settled on a concept that felt stylish and sophisticated. With Sharon remaining the single point of contact throughout the whole project, the renovation went off without a hitch.

A Brand New Look

After agreeing on a design and budget, the exciting kitchen transformation began. Debbie and Rob wanted to remove the wall between the lounge and kitchen to create open plan living. Confirmation from an architect determined this was possible, and the result was a large open plan living space that was immediately filled with beautiful natural light.
The kitchen received a top-to-toe renovation with new cabinets, custom curved island benchtop, and floating flooring. Sharon seamlessly managed multiple contractors, including plasterers, electricians, painters, plumbers, builders, flooring installers and the kitchen design and build team.
The custom curved stone benchtop was installed with curved supports underneath and is a feature highlight of the space.

A Delightful Design

The new kitchen is a design delight. The space is now flooded with natural light and a sleek white stone benchtop, combined with natural timber flooring and cabinets, has created a warm, bright space that feels stylish yet inviting. Grained melteca in black under the benchtop adds depth and contrast - a design choice Debbie and Rob really had to trust but one they are thrilled with.
Pendant lighting, and appliances all in black have added modern sophistication, bringing a wow factor to the interior, while floating flooring and fresh paint tie the new look together.
Floor-to-ceiling cupboards along the kitchen’s back wall have added plenty of smart pantry space, and a dedicated appliance cupboard hides away appliances while still allowing easy access for early morning coffees – particularly with integrated automatic sensor lighting.
The curved stone bench top with LED lighting beneath is a real feature, maximising the entertaining area and bringing softness to the modern space.

A Living Transformation

This thoughtful and stylish renovation completely transformed not only Debbie and Rob’s kitchen, but their entire living area. By removing the existing lounge wall, they were able to connect their living spaces and create a beautiful open plan concept that allows them to entertain with ease.
Sharon is also pleased with the result she was able to deliver for her client.
“This is an amazing transformation from dark to light,” says Sharon. “The space is now bright, sophisticated, and welcoming, with fabulous flow and connection between the living spaces. Debbie and Rob are thrilled with the outcome, and it has really changed the way they live in their home.”
