Design Case Study: Creating a Serene and Minimalist Living Space

Project Overview

The homeowners sought to transform their kitchen and master bathroom into calm, modern, and functional spaces. The primary goals were to achieve a minimalist aesthetic with a monotone color scheme, clean lines, and efficient storage solutions to minimize clutter and ease cleaning. 1. Calm and Monotone Color Scheme: Both the kitchen and bathroom were to feature a neutral, monotone color palette to create a serene and tranquil environment.
2. Clean and Uninterrupted Lines: The design needed to incorporate straight, clean lines both vertically and horizontally, with no protruding elements like handles.
3. Efficient Storage Solutions: Appliances and personal items were to be stored out of sight to maintain a clutter-free and easily cleanable surface.

Kitchen Remodel

Design Implementation:

• Color Scheme: The kitchen was painted in a contemporary white, creating a bright and calm atmosphere. White cabinetry and countertops were chosen to maintain the monotone look.
• Clean Lines: All cabinetry was designed with handleless, flat-front doors and drawers. The countertops were seamless, with integrated sinks and faucets to minimize interruptions.
• Storage Solutions: A custom-built drawer system was designed to store appliances such as a Vitamix blender, water kettle, toaster, air fryer, and rice cooker. Only an espresso machine and coffee grinder were left on the counter, and these were chosen for their sleek, modern design to complement the overall aesthetic.
• Ease of Cleaning: The countertops were made of a durable, easy-to-clean material, and the backsplash was installed with large, smooth tiles to reduce grout lines and facilitate cleaning.

Master Bathroom Remodel

Design Implementation:

• Color Scheme: The bathroom was painted in a soft, neutral white to create a serene and tranquil space. White tiles were used for the walls and floor, maintaining the monotone look.
• Clean Lines: The tiles were laid in a precise, grid-like pattern to ensure that vertical and horizontal lines were uninterrupted. The vanity and shower were designed with straight, clean lines and handleless drawers.
• Storage Solutions: A custom-built vanity with ample drawer space was installed to store personal items like the electric toothbrush and razor. The drawers were designed to be deep and wide, ensuring that all items could be stored neatly and out of sight.
• Ease of Cleaning: The vanity and countertops were made of a smooth, non-porous material that is easy to clean. The shower was designed with a seamless, walk-in layout and large, smooth tiles to minimize cleaning effort.
