The Initial Consultation

Janine and Garth had planned to sell their home, but the 2020 lockdown made them reconsider. Although they were happy to stay in their Wellington home, they disliked their kitchen. They wanted a space more aligned with their tastes, and one they would enjoy spending time in.
Wondering if using Refresh Renovations would be an affordable and realistic option based on the budget they had available, or if they would be better off managing the project themselves, they booked a free initial consultation with Renovation Consultant Lia Boersma to discuss their ideas.

Creating A Plan

Lia quickly understood the vision Janine and Garth had for their kitchen redesign and provided expert guidance on how they could make it happen. Using her excellent communication skills, Lia managed the couple’s expectations around what could be achieved within the money they had available.
Garth and Janine soon realised that if they were to manage the project themselves they would end up going over budget. Lia came up with creative solutions to include as many of their ideas as possible without exceeding the money they had allocated.
She then arranged for working drawings that showed exactly how the new kitchen would look. Once Janine and Garth confirmed these details, Lia and her team got to work on the kitchen transformation.
Throughout the renovation, Lia offered advice and support based on her extensive industry knowledge, but Garth and Janine felt fully in control of their project at all times.

Bringing A Dream Kitchen To Life

Having heard about the nationwide shortage of tradespeople, Garth and Janine were worried that this would affect their kitchen renovation project, which involved plumbers, electricians, tilers, plasterers, and joiners. But Lia and her team organised and managed all of the different contractors, saving Garth and Janine time and stress, and providing reassurance that the tradies selected would be reliable and deliver high-quality results.
During the project, the couple decided they would like some additional painting and plastering carried out. This was easily added on for minimal cost and was completed at the same time as the rest of the work.
Careful scheduling ensured that everything ran smoothly, even when an unexpected challenge occurred.

Complications and Challenges

Part way through the project, another COVID lockdown was announced. This had the potential to cause huge delays and leave Garth and Janine without a functional kitchen.
Lia and her team quickly came up with a plan to ensure that the project would still be finished by the expected completion date, despite the new restrictions on how many tradespeople could be in the project at one time.
Lia continued to manage the project remotely, providing Garth and Janine with a schedule so they knew which contractors to expect each day, and keeping them fully informed on how their renovation was progressing.
Despite some complications around supply issues and a reduced number of people allowed on site at any one time, the renovation was completed within the estimated timescale of five weeks.

A Fresh New Look

Garth and Janine are delighted with their new kitchen. The gleaming white cabinets and countertops contrast with the dark walls and fixtures to create a sophisticated and stylish space they now enjoy coming home to. They are particularly impressed with the quality and finish of the workmanship.
The new breakfast bar provides ample space for conversation as well as an additional work area, while the Victorian vintage-style splashback above the cooktop is an eye-catching feature.
Vinyl flooring gives the effect of hardwood and custom pendant lights and floating shelves add the finishing touches to this stunning design, all of which was achieved within the allocated budget.
Garth and Janine know that using Refresh was absolutely the right decision for them and are already contemplating using Lia and her team for a future bathroom renovation. Garth said: “Refresh saved me money and time, and the end result is perfect.”
