Initial Consultation

When this Melbourne property was built 25-years-ago it was finished to the highest standards. However, in recent years, many elements had started to look dated. Homeowner Chris felt it was time for an upgrade to maximise his home’s potential and create modern spaces that could be enjoyed for many years to come.
Chris wanted to renovate three bathrooms including an ensuite, update the laundry, and transform the room adjacent to the garden into a bar. He decided to contact Renovation Consultant Leigh McDonald at Refresh Renovations Melbourne to discuss his ideas and get an idea of how much everything would cost.
Self-managing a project of this size would be a huge undertaking, so having an expert on hand to provide advice, take care of all the details, and ensure everything ran smoothly was invaluable. Chris and Leigh discussed some initial ideas and then it was time to turn them into concept drawings.

Drawings and Design

Chris had a clear idea of what he wanted and was excited to see his ideas come to life. Plans were drawn up to show how each room would look and he had the opportunity to make any changes to the design aesthetic or layout. Leigh worked with him to find the right balance between style and budget, before creating more detailed working drawings.
Thanks to the structured Refresh process, Leigh could provide a fixed-quote for the entire project before the contract was signed. An estimated timeline was also discussed, which was important as Chris and his family would be staying with relatives while the work was carried out.
Once all details of the design were finalised, it was time for work to begin. The project required council consent, but Leigh took care of this from start to finish, thereby avoiding delays that could have been caused by missing or insufficient information.

Getting To Work

For the transformation to run smoothly, contractors from different trades had to work in tandem. Leigh’s meticulous organisational skills ensured that the required contractors were on site when they were needed.
He was also on hand to assist when there were delays in getting products delivered. Leigh prides himself on his excellent customer service and communication skills and he quickly broke the news to Chris and let him know the new expected completion date.

A Surprising Discovery

During the demolition, the team discovered concealed cavities behind the walls. The designs were adapted so that these previously unused spaces could be incorporated to increase the sizes of the upstairs master ensuite and family bathroom.
Chris was impressed with how quickly Leigh and his team were able to redesign the bathrooms to make the most of this extra space.

Beautiful Bathrooms

The upgrades to all three bathrooms and the laundry room are both stylish and practical. Now a pleasure to use, the transformed spaces have significantly increased the property’s value, meaning that the money spent on the renovation was a worthwhile investment.
The tired shower cubicles have given way to spacious walk-in showers, and the old spa bath has been replaced with a deep and luxurious bathtub, a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing soak at the end of the day.
Elegant oval-shaped illuminated mirrors hang above the hand basins, and the white walls, shutters, and Burdens Bathrooms fixtures create the sleek and modern aesthetic Chris wanted.

A Stylish Bar Area

The room next to the garden has been completely transformed into a contemporary bar area. New stacker doors from Bradnams Windows open up the space and allow easy access to the rear yard and swimming pool, providing an inviting place to enjoy a cold drink on hot summer days.
Changing the use of this room has created a wonderful entertainment hub for spending time with family and friends, whether in the room itself or through the doors in the large outside space.

Final Thoughts

Chris is absolutely delighted with how his property looks and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Leigh and the team at Refresh Renovations. He said: “Our experience with Refresh Renovations was nothing short of outstanding…the quality of the renovation exceeded our best hopes”.
