After hunting for a new home in Cantonment, a suburb located just outside Pensacola, Florida, these new homeowners had settled on a house that was in need of a few updates. During their initial consultation, the homeowners shared with Refresh renovations specialist, Hayley English, what they enjoyed about the house and ideas that would help give the new house that feeling of home. The Refresh team pulled together a design for the kitchen and a new master suite. Once the homeowners were happy with the design, the team set a budget for the total costs of renovations and an estimated timeline to completion.
“The homeowners wanted to focus on modernizing the kitchen’s outdated 1988 aesthetic and convert the garage, bedroom, and bath into a master suite,” explains Hayley.
With the final design and budget finalized, the renovations began. The kitchen received a full demolition of its existing cabinets and the outdated tiled floor. The homeowners were hands-on in selecting all of the design details. They matched a custom color of ‘cyberspace’ for the kitchen cabinets with white glass field tiles for the backsplash and a granite selection in the waterfall style to complement the look. These three pairings created an impressive new look compared to the outdated look that had previously occupied the kitchen. It was smart and up to date. And a look they had been after.
Once the first stage of renovations was completed in the kitchen, the master suite renovation was next. The bedroom, bathroom, and garage space were all converted into an inclusive master suite that contained the new bedroom, large master bath, and walk-in closet. From new flooring to freshly painted walls for the entire home, this was a total ceiling to floor renovation that turned out excellent. The master bath was given a gorgeous feature wall of steelwork rust Tesoro tile. For the counter and sink area, custom maple smoke vanities were installed and covered in an ice-white quartz countertop. The newly enlarged walk-in closet now housed plenty of storage space complete with adjustable ClosetMaid shelving.
For the floors, the homeowners selected a warm bristol oak luxury vinyl plank—a clickable floating floor system from COREtec. New flooring was also installed in the kitchen, master suite, and throughout the rest of the home. The entire house received freshly painted walls and ceilings in the colors ‘agreeable grey’ and ‘natural linen’, colors chosen from the Sherwin Williams paint collection. Once the renovations were all completed to their former 1980s style house, the home now represents the tastes of its new owners. With the help of Refresh Renovations, they were able to create a home that fits their family just right.
